Beautiful continuous line drawing

Love the sense of balance, composition and space in Ian's drawing

Laura's first drawings of her favourite view whilst out running

All completely full of wonder at the beauty of the sunset.
We have just had the most amazing evening down at Kingsdown Beach for this weeks Drawing Room. The weather was balmy, you could smell the salty sea air and feel the breeze from the sea. After week One where we looked at composition, photography and how to record the landscape with a digital camera we continued our research by producing some observational landscape drawings from life using a black fine line pen. The students were asked to use continuous line and a point in the landscape was chosen as the starting point. The learners then recorded what they saw before them, allowing the drawing to flow organically across their sketchbooks. The results were beautiful and really and truly captured the essence of Kingsdown. We were treated to the most glorious Turner-esque sunset at the end of the class which sets us up perfectly for next weeks lesson on skies. None of can believe how lucky we are to live in this part of Kent. Well done all.
